NEW EVENTS

Free VHS Study Skills Course Thanks to a generous, anonymous grant, we are pleased to be able to offer a free 4-week online study skills class to all interested 9th-grade students.  It is our intention to extend the offer to other grades later this year. We are piloting this offering in collaboration with the Virtual High School. The class will commence following midyear exams and will run for four weeks, up to the beginning of February break. Students can expect approximately five hours of work per week, focusing on time management skills,  note-taking and test preparation/test taking strategies.  The course modules have been designed by the Landmark School in Beverly.  Students who are interested should sign up via this Google Form link: https://goo.gl/forms/UXRNfYjpJjDExkoq2 no later than December 15, 2016.  Questions may be addressed to Ann Little, VHS Site Coordinator: alittle@concordcarlisle.org. 

FRIENDS OF CC BASKETBALL 3 ON 3 TOURNAMENT!!! Come show your moves and impress your friends and family in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament to benefit the CC Boys Basketball team.  Saturday, December 17: games start at 1:30 pm, team sign in by 1:15pm in the CCHS gym. $20 per adult, $15 per college student, and $10 per CC student. Fans are invited to cheer on the spectacular play  Download flyer here with all of the details. Flyer. Interact Club Winter Gear Drive for Cor Unum from December 13-January 6.  Bring in NEW socks, hats, gloves and other winter apparel. Collection boxes will be in the lobby, social studies breakout space, and cafeteria. CONTINUING EVENTS 

Hello Actors!!  Auditions for the 2017 CCHS Competitive One Act Play will be held December 14 with callbacks on the 15th. We are looking to stage “The Company of Wolves” and unique and dark retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. If you google it and find a movie from the 80’s it’s not the same thing. Audition info is available on our website at www.concordcarlisletheatercompany.org Please fill out an audition form for Ms. Dwyer prior to auditioning! Don’t hesitate to email with any questions!!! Cooler Concord Fair – Call for Volunteers Thank you to the CCHS Environmental Science Class, the Green Team, and the Photo and Film Classes for lending your expertise to help make this a great event.  We are seeking additional volunteers. Please Support the Red Cross Club with their “Gift Wrapping Relief Fundraiser” to help people in need of food and shelter. The collection box is in the main lobby for rolls of wrapping paper, bows, and ribbon.  We will use these supplies the last two weekends of December when the Red Cross Club will be gift wrapping at the Burlington Mall at the mall entrance of SEARS.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

The Concord Free Public Library will be hosting a weekly Girls Who Code Club for girls in grades 6-12 beginning on January 11, 2017.  The club will meet on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Main Library, Concord, MA.  In preparation for the January launch, club instructors will be holding an information session is Wednesday, December 14 at 5:00 p.m. at the Fowler Branch Library, Concord, MA.  All interested girls are encouraged to attend.

Announcing the Cooler Concord Fair – SAVE THE DATEHave you always wanted to save energy, but haven’t had the time to figure it all out and get it done?  Help is on the way! Concord and Carlisle Youth Holiday Gift Drive December 1-16 – CC Youth Services and CC Community Chest are teaming up again this year to collect donations of new, unwrapped gifts and toys for youth ages 0-16. The donated gifts will be distributed to eligible Concord, Carlisle and Metco youth and families. Items in high demand include bath and body products, board games, Boston sports team-themed merchandise, pajamas/robes/cozy socks, science kits, and action figures.
