AP Environmental Science

AP Environmental Science (APES) is a year-long course that is the equivalent to a one semester college level Environmental Science course. Students will be expected to take the AP Environmental Science test in May 2018. Environmental Science is the interaction of sciences that attempts to explain how life on the Earth is sustained, what leads to environmental problems, how humans are responsible and interact with these elements and how these problems can be solved. Many sciences are important to environmental science. These include Biology (especially Ecology, that part of Biology that deals with the relationships among living things and their environment), Geology, Hydrology, Climatology, Meteorology, Oceanography, and Soil Science. In addition, APES students learn about environmental laws, environmental regulations, and environmental history. APES students must be good readers, writers and strong in math, as calculators are not allowed during the exam.
