French 1
French 1 is a yearlong course that emphasizes the development of basic speaking, reading, writing and listening skills in French. The course will also focus on expanding knowledge about the culture of Francophone countries.
You can expect to learn in diverse ways:
- Listening to examples of native speakers and French music in the language lab
- Writing short narratives or notes
- Creating small projects or posters
- Reading a variety of authentic and adapted materials such as short stories and articles
- Working alone, in small groups and with a partner
- Speaking and communicating only in French with other members of your class
- Using technology to participate in interactive learning games and activities
You will be able to speak, read and write about:
- Classroom routines and items
- Introducing yourself
- Your after school and weekend activities
- Time, the calendar, weather
- Your family
- Cities and towns
- The items in your home and room
- Shopping for clothing and gifts
- Food and dining in a restaurant
- Francophone countries and regions
