The main goal of this course is to build students’ oral proficiency while increasing their awareness of Hispanic culture and contemporary issues. Students engage in conversations of contemporary relevance on cultural, personal, and social topics. Since the emphasis of the course is on speaking, students are expected to use Spanish for all classroom interactions. Language skills and cultural knowledge are enhanced by the use of selected readings, films, the Internet, audio and video activities. My personal goal is to create an environment in which we all feel comfortable sharing our views on a wide range of social issues.
