Second Chance Cars (SCC), is a Concord-based nonprofit start-up led by Dan Holin, a veteran social entrepreneur and Concord resident. SCC enables low- income returning citizens and veterans to secure living wage jobs through affordable car ownership. Specifically, cars donated to SCC are refurbished by area vocational schools and awarded to recipients via a zero interest, $900, one year loan that is both affordable, a fraction of the car’s value, and builds the recipient’s credit rating. Surveys of Massachusetts nonprofit leaders serving the above populations, and Dan’s experience providing affordable cars to returning citizens, confirm that for many low-income people, and especially those living outside of Boston, car ownership remains a barrier to escaping poverty. While the need is deep and the impact proven and profound, no one in Massachusetts is offering affordable car ownership to low-income people. See recent SCC feature on WCVB/CBS news here.

We are looking for volunteers who can help us – Clean and detail cars: We have professional detailing materials and can teach anyone how to clean, detail, polish and buff a car professionally.  Help build awareness to SCC in Greater Concord: You will help create and execute a marketing campaign to help build awareness to SCC and hopefully generate car donations.

General support: Help set up and participate in our car award events, take pictures and video, do data entry and analysis, and more.
