| Description: | Volunteers read to elementary school kids and help spread literacy. BookPALS includes a number of training sessions and letters to assigned pen pals. It isn’t a program that can be joined mid-stream. So sign up at the beginning of the school year. Locations: We read at the Harvey-Wheeler Center in West Concord, Open Table at First Parish in Concord, the Condon school in South Boston, and will be starting a division at Emerson Hospital. |
| Days/Times Needed: | Attend Bookpals meetings at CCHS (announced in daily bulletin) We also host workshops in order to help people read aloud better and interact with the children. There is a Facebook group: Book Pals - CCHS. |
| Additional Information: | Participants should attend all sessions; it consists of only 3 one-hour after school trainings and 3 three-hour after school visits into Boston, for a total of 12 community service hours. |
