Steve Wells – SPED

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is working and interacting with students! My goal coming to work every day is to help students learn, while having fun and laughing.

Why did you decide to teach Special Education?

I decided to teach Special Education because I think that one of my gifts is helping other people and I find that I am able to do that every day when I am teaching. Also, as a graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School, I really wanted to give back to the school/community that gave me so much.

How would you summarize your teaching philosophy?

I believe in educating the whole student. Do I want students to learn the content of what I am teaching them in class? Of course! However, I am also concerned about teaching life lessons about things like responsibility, respect, compassion for others, and things like that. I believe that the best way to learn is through having fun and so I try to make students laugh, learn, and have fun all at the same time.

What extracurricular activities are you involved with at CC?

I am an assistant coach for the Boy’s Varsity Soccer team (www.cchsmenssoccer.com). This is my fourteenth season in that role helping out Coach Pavlik, who was the assistant coach of the team when I played here. One of my favorite parts of every school day in the soccer season is stepping out onto the field and hanging out with the guys on the team. I am also the faculty advisor for the Concord-Carlisle Community Connections (CCCC) program (www.cchs-connections.org), which is a career mentoring program designed to introduce CCHS students to the business and professional world outside of the classroom.
