NEW EVENTS

Friday, December 16, from 7-9PM in the cafeteria, UNICEF Club will be hosting a rock concert to support relief efforts in Haiti after the immense destruction and casualties caused by Hurricane Matthew. Come for the groovy music of three local Concordian student bands (Nick Owen, Sarcasm, and Iris), all the while benefiting a good cause. Questions? The Red Cross Club would like to thank everyone for their donations for the “Gift Wrapping Relief Fundraiser” to help people in need of food and shelter. We will be gift-wrapping at the Burlington mall this weekend and on Friday Dec. 23. We will be at the mall entrance of Sears. Your donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Free VHS Study Skills Course Thanks to a generous, anonymous grant, we are pleased to be able to offer a free 4-week online study skills class to all interested 9th-grade students. It is our intention to extend the offer to other grades later this year. We are piloting this offering in collaboration with the Virtual High School. The class will commence following midyear exams and will run for four weeks, up to the beginning of February break. Students can expect approximately five hours of work per week, focusing on time management skills, note-taking and test preparation/test taking strategies. The course modules have been designed by the Landmark School in Beverly. Students who are interested should sign up via this Google Form no later than December 15, 2016. FRIENDS OF CC BASKETBALL 3 ON 3 TOURNAMENT!!! Come show your moves and impress your friends and family in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament to benefit the CC Boys Basketball team. Saturday, December 17: games start at 1:30 pm, team sign in by 1:15pm in the CCHS gym. $20 per adult, $15 per college student, and $10 per CC student. Fans are invited to cheer on the spectacular play Download flyer here with all of the details. Flyer. Interact Club Winter Gear Drive for Cor Unum from December 13-January 6. Bring in NEW socks, hats, gloves and other winter apparel. Collection boxes will be in the lobby, social studies breakout space, and cafeteria. Announcing the Cooler Concord Fair, CCHS, Saturday, February 4, 10am to 4pmThe CCHS Green Team encourages all students and their parents to mark their calendars now to attend the Cooler Concord Fair – the Coolest event yet at CCHS! The Fair is led by Concord’s Sustainable Energy Committee and students at CCHS and Concord Public Schools. Come find out about simple and significant ways to save energy and money; connect with local experts about solar power, LED lighting and more; check out the new electric cars and ride our electric school bus! And talk with students from Willard, Thoreau and Alcott about their creative and compelling exhibits. There will be giveaways, activities for kids of all ages, and lots of delicious snacks. Concord and Carlisle Youth Holiday Gift Drive December 1-16 – CC Youth Services and CC Community Chest are teaming up again this year to collect donations of new, unwrapped gifts and toys for youth ages 0-16. The donated gifts will be distributed to eligible Concord, Carlisle and Metco youth and families. Items in high demand include bath and body products, board games, Boston sports team-themed merchandise, pajamas/robes/cozy socks, science kits, and action figures.
