NEW EVENTS 

If you cannot attend the CCHS vs Billerica playoff football game TONIGHT FRIDAY at 7:00 p.m. at Calabrese Stadium at Marshall Middle School in Billerica, WIQH will broadcast live from Billerica.  Coverage begins just before 7:00 p.m.  Tune in to 88.3FM or listen online at WIQH.  Click here to purchase tickets in advance!  Ticket prices Adults $7/Students $5.

Work Out Club ROOM CHANGENow in room 408!  Yoga or workout mat is necessary!  Ready for a major calorie burn in only 30 minutes?  Workouts challenge you at every level. Come join Ms. Brown and other students and teachers for a great work out! Mondays & Wednesdays from 2:30 – 3:00!

Senior portraits and baby/youth pictures are due October 28!  If you are experiencing a financial hardship and purchasing senior portraits or a yearbook is difficult, please contact Ms. Wozniak.  Also October 28 is the last day to order a yearbook for $75!!  After this, the price increases to $85. CONTINUING EVENTS 

The Student Government Food Drive Ends Today  Please leave cans of food in the box in the Learning Commons Lobby you advisor’s name on it. The advisory that brings in the most cans will receive a prize! 

Reminder to All Students:  Quarter 1 ends TODAY.  To avoid credit reduction on your Quarter 1 report card, please check your attendance on Aspen and clear up any unexcused absences.  Please see Mrs. Merry in the main office with any attendance questions. 

Canoe with the Environmental Field Studies Group TODAY  We’ll meet in 436 at 2:15 and return to CCHS by 4 pm.  Contact Ms. Guiney, Ms. Murphy, or Mr. Nichol for a permission slip.

Saturday, 29 October there will be a Red Cross blood drive from 8:30 to 1:30 in the Maroon Gym at CCHS! Anybody over the age of 16 may be eligible to give blood, and their donation would be greatly appreciated. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred, if interested email Eleanor Mathias (emathias17@concordcarlisle.org) to request a slot or more information. For CCHS students and staff, sign-ups will be happening every day this week during lunch blocks in the cafeteria.

CCHS has been selected to host a 3-day Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) training. MVP is one of the longest-running and most widely influential gender violence, sexual harassment and bullying prevention programs in the world.  The training will take place from 9:00am-2:00pm on November 29, 30 and December 1 and we are now accepting applications. If you are interested in participating in the 3-day training and are a sophomore, junior or a senior, please fill out an on-line application at MVP Training Application.  30 CCHS students representing a diverse cross-section of leaders will be selected to participate. For more information about the Training you can watch a 3-minute video of MVP founder Jackson Katz: MVP Video (You Tube)  or contact Ms. Slocum (nslocum@concordcarlisle.org)

“If Only” Screening November 1.  CCHS will be partnering with CC Youth Services, Central Middlesex Police Partnership, and the Center for Parents and Teachers to host a community viewing on Tuesday, November 1 of “If Only,” a short film co-written and produced by James Wahlberg, at CCHS Auditorium, 7:00-8:30pm. The film was created to initiate a meaningful dialogue between parents and children, and within communities, about prescription drug misuse and opiate addiction. This event is open to the community free of charge and no pre-registration is needed to attend. CCHS students will see the movie during school hours on November 2.  Questions?  Contact Jennifer Clarke at CC Youth Services, 978.318.3043 or jclarke@concordma.gov

Please come to the first Ruettgers Lecture of the year: “How did we get here? Four perspectives from three academic disciplines on the history, trends, and anomalies that mark this year’s election.”  Presented by four CCHS teachers.  Wednesday, November 2, 2016.  Refreshments at 2:15, Lecture at 2:30 in Room 242.

HOBY: Each year CCHS sends several students from the Sophomore class to the Hugh O’Brien Youth State Leadership Seminar. HOBY’s flagship program, the State Leadership Seminar (LS) is designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Swim Meet — 10th Annual Concord-Carlisle Masters Mini-Meet will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Beede Center. This Master Mini-Meet is a fundraiser hosted by the Friends of Concord-Carlisle High School Swim and Dive Team to raise money to support the 2016-17 swim season. Warm-ups begin at 7:45 am.
