Get creative!! Join our Halloween Coloring Contest in the Learning Commons.  Winner will receive a prize!  Contest ends on Thursday, October 27. 

Senior portraits and baby/youth pictures are due Oct 28th!  If you are experiencing a financial hardship and purchasing senior portraits or a yearbook is difficult, please contact Ms. Wozniak.  Also Oct 28 is the last day to order a yearbook for $75!!  After this, the price increases to $85. Swim Meet -10th Annual Concord-Carlisle Masters Mini-Meet will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Beede Aquatic Center in Concord, MA. This Master Mini-Meet is a fundraiser hosted by the Friends of Concord-Carlisle High School Swim and Dive Team to raise money to support the 2016-17 swim season. This is a low-key event open to any experienced masters swimmers, first time competitors, coaches, teachers and parents!  Participants choose from 12 different races ranging from the 50m Butterfly to the 400m Freestyle and can enter up to 5 events. Warm-ups begin at 7:45 am. Registration information and entry form can be found at www.swimne.com or www.cchsfosd.org

Volunteer, Volunteer, Volunteer!  Have you always wanted to volunteer at the high school but weren’t sure you had the time or didn’t want to make the commitment so far in advance?  Now is your opportunity to sign up without making a commitment.  Go to Volunteer! and let us know what events or types of volunteer activities you are interested in. We’ll contact you when the time comes to see if you are available. It’s a great way to meet people, connect with friends and support your student at CCHS.

Two upcoming events need co-chairs: The Teacher Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, November 10 (conference day) and the Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon on Saturday, November 19. If you are interested in co-chairing one of these events, please email me nancy.zuffante@comcast.net. 

CONTINUING EVENTS

Support Dig Pink for Breast Cancer Research  On Tuesday, October 18, the CCHS Girls Volleyball Teams will compete in Dig Pink, a nation-wide volleyball rally to raise money for breast cancer research.   Come and show your support!   And come hungry — pizza, chili and sweet treats will be available.  JV and Freshman games start at 5 at CCHS, with a Varsity game immediately following. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

There will be a brief but important meeting of all boys interested in playing ice hockey this winter on Wednesday, October 19 at 2:15 in Room 121. 

Model UNWant to talk about what’s going on the world?  Come to Model UN every Wednesday from 2:15 – 3:15 in Room 340 to discuss current international events.  This week’s topic is nuclear proliferation.  All are welcome!  See Ms. Fischer or email Eleanor Mathias (emathias17@concordcarlisle.org) for more information.

High Schoolers and Snooze Buttons: The New Public Health Crisis – Concord-Carlisle High School Auditorium, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Please join the CCHS PA for an important evening that will take an in-depth look at what is being called an epidemic and national crisis for American high schoolers: insufficient sleep.  An esteemed panel of speakers led by Dr. Judith Owens from Boston Children’s Sleep Center will review current research on sleep patterns in adolescents, factors contributing to chronic sleep loss, and health-related consequences, such as depression, risky behaviors, increased obesity risk, and higher rates of drowsy driving accidents.  Event is FREE but Registration is Required. http://cchspa_sleep_panel.eventbrite.com To see flyer click here 

Thursday, October 20 there is an informational meeting for all boys interested in playing tennis for CCHS in 2017. The meeting will run from 2:45-3:30 pm in room 332. 

HOBY: Each year CCHS sends several students from the Sophomore class to the Hugh O’Brien Youth State Leadership Seminar. HOBY’s flagship program, the State Leadership Seminar (LS) is designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. COMMUNITY EVENTS

ACT Practice Test Prepare for the ACT with practice tests at the Gleason Public Library in Carlisle. The practice ACT test will be held on Saturday, October 22. Test will begin promptly at 10:30 am. The test will be provided and proctored by Open Door Test Prep of Acton. Registration is required and can be done at http://www.gleasonlibrary.org/or calling the library at 978-369-4898.
