ALL PROM-GOERS AND PARENTS OF PROM-GOERS – TUXEDO RENTALS
WHAT: Formalwear Ltd of Waltham will be providing tuxedo rentals for Prom 2016. Tuxedo styles will be available for a total cost of $100 (formal shoes are $25 extra). WHEN: Fittings will be held in the cafeteria TODAY, May 5, during all lunch blocks. PAYMENT: All major credit cards, cash, or check will be accepted. HOW: Tuxedos will be delivered to school on May 12, and must be returned to school on Monday, May 16. BONUS: If you prefer to go to the store to be fitted, your tux will be delivered to and picked up from school. Congratulations to CCHS juniors Ginevra Davis, Ann Hutchinson and Anna Yedrikova for earning achievement awards at the national level in the NCTE student writing contest. Schools across the nation conducted in-house writing contests for their juniors, and of the 533 nominees sent to the national level, 264 were chosen as outstanding writers, including all three of CCHS’ nominees. The school’s NCTE contest coordinator, Dr. Nurenberg, will present them with their letter and certificate.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION for Class of 2016:  All scholarships have specific requirements so please read them carefully. If they need a transcript or letter of recommendation please request them from Mrs. Tessari ASAP.

Acton Toyota of Littleton Scholarship: Acton Toyota of Littleton, in conjunction with Toyota Motor Sales USA, wishes to award two $2,000 charitable scholarship donations to two deserving graduating high school senior student who has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college or university. The dealership seeks to reward two senior students who have demonstrated real leadership qualities in: (a) the community, (b) the classroom/school, or (c) the athletic field. Students must complete an application form and write a 2-3-page essay documenting their achievements and/or contributions in any one of these three areas. All students must turn in their applications and essay no later than Friday, May 6 to Mrs. MacHaffie in the Guidance Office. Click for application

Car Wash for Girls Lacrosse: The CCHS girl’s lacrosse teams and Friends of Concord Carlisle Girls Lacrosse are sponsoring a CAR WASH at Crosby’s Market this Saturday May 7th from 10 AM to 3 PM, (rain date Sunday May 8th from 10 AM to 3 PM) to raise money for all three of our girls lacrosse teams.  There will also be the CC Lacrosse hats for sale ($20 each). Please stop by to support the teams. Go CCHS Lax!

CCHS Driver Education The Spring after-school class starts Thursday, May 5, 2:15-4:15, and meets Monday-Wednesday-Thursday through June 9. Students must be 15 years 9 months of age to begin. The required Parent Class should be taken early in the process of preparation for a Junior Operator license. The two hour course is offered each month, with upcoming courses on April 25, May 24 or June 20, 7-9 pm. Pre-registration is not required. There is no fee required for parents of students enrolled in CCHS Driver Education. The entire program consists of 30-hour classroom learning, 12 hours of behind-the-wheel training, 6 hours of in-car observation, and the parent class. The fee is $739, and it includes the RMV certification fee. COMMUNITY EVENTS

Milldam Nursery School will be hosting the 11th Annual Ducky Race & Fair on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Emerson Playground. We are looking for CCHS students to volunteer for three hours of community service, 9:15 am – 12:15 pm. The event features the “Lucky Duck” raffle, a petting zoo, train rides, face painting and more. SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, MAY 15 What: The Thoreau School Road Race is May 15!Get fit this spring at the Thoreau School’s 10th Annual Road Race, a community-wide celebration, Sunday, May 15!  Start training now with the whole family for the Kids’ Fun Runs (.5 and 1 mile) and 5K followed by fun food, games, bouncy house, awards and more.  Race, walk, jog or stroll, ALL are welcome! 11:00 am – 5K run through West Concord Kids Fun Runs: 12:00 pm – 1 mile run 6+ GIRLS 12:15 pm – 1 mile run 6+ BOYS 12:30 pm – ½ mile run 5 and under Register TODAY to avoid lines and save on the registration fee.

The Concord Players’ spring show, Amadeus, is a story of intrigue, murder and suspense around the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Come see the gold-and-glitter set, silk and lace period outfits and amazing wigs; talk-back with actor/dancer Richard Colton, who appeared in the film version, will happen after the matinee on May 1. The Carlisle Trails Committee is looking for volunteers to help install signposts for trail signs on Saturday, May 7 We will supply the tools (post hole diggers, shovels, and rock bars) – you bring work gloves and water.   Meet at 1 pm at the Carlisle Town Hall, 66 Westford Street.  We will work for about 3 hours.  Please let Steve Tobin know you will be coming (email sptobin@comcast.net) so we have enough tools, or if you have questions.
