AP Chinese Overview

Course Objectives               

The overall goal of this course, as set forth by the College Board, is to deepen students’ immersion into the language and culture of the Chinese speaking world, providing students with ongoing and varied opportunities to further develop their proficiencies across the full range of language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. These areas include social issues in the target culture and abstract ideas concerning art, literature, politics and society. Language skills and cultural knowledge are enhanced by the use of Internet, and audio and video programs. Varied methods such as group work, paired work, and direct instruction are used to help all students develop   communicative proficiency. One of the goals of this course is to prepare interested students for the Chinese Language Advanced Placement Examination.
