Welcome to the Science Department
The Science Program offers courses that familiarize students with scientific inquiry, essential scientific knowledge, and a lasting curiosity about the natural world. Courses include earth and space science, biology, chemistry, and physics, with a strong emphasis on laboratory work and hands-on experience over lecture-based learning. Students engage in direct experiences to understand fundamental scientific principles.
Our goal is to place students in the appropriate course level that ensures a challenging yet enjoyable learning environment. Each year, students' progress is reassessed to determine if a change in course level is needed based on their performance. The provided sequence chart outlines typical course progressions, but individual paths may vary after consultation with the department chairperson. Course selections should align with students' abilities, interests, and future goals, with a minimum of two years of science required for graduation.
